With its triple tail design and curved rear fuselage, this four-engine aircraft made a real impression on its arrival at Schiphol in 1946.
In the Netherlands, the Constellation was instrumental in the development of post-war intercontinental and transatlantic air transport and played a key role in the waves of emigration to Australia, Canada and New Zealand between 1946 and 1962.
During this period, as many as 48 Constellations and extended Super Constellations flew for KLM making the Constellation one of the most frequently used aircraft types in KLM's history.
 
Met haar drie kielvlakken (zeg maar "staarten") en haar ronde rug was het viermotorige vliegtuig sinds 1946 een opvallende verschijning op Schiphol.
De Constellation speelde in ons land een hoofdrol bij de ontwikkeling van het na-oorlogse intercontinentale en transatlantische luchtverkeer en bij de emigratiegolven van Nederlanders die tussen 1946 en 1962 naar Australië, Canada en Nieuw Zeeland vertrokken.
In deze periode hebben maar liefst 48 Constellations en verlengde Super Constellations bij de KLM gevlogen, waarmee de Constellation een van de meest gebruikte vliegtuigtypes uit de KLM-geschiedenis is.
